My husband has mentioned interest in a radar detector so I thought it would be a good Christmas gift. I went into Radio Shack today to see what they had and found the Cobra XRS 9340 12-Band Radar/Laser Detector on clearance for $79.99 (original price

Only three really good brands exist in the world of radar detectors ... they are BEL, Escort and Valentine One. Cobra is one of those middle-of-the-road brand radar detectors. It'll do the job but it's not worthy of such a high recommendation.

In my opinion, I think you should save more money and get a Valentine One. It's worth it. Whistler is hit or miss.

i wanted to know what is distance range that it can detect police raders.

So i want to get radar for my car

I really dont want to spend more then 100$ so i found the XRS 9340 and thought it looked pretty good

To be completely honestly, if you arn't going to spend the $300 it takes to get a good radar detectors, don't waste your money on a cheap one. They usually have very poorly made false alarm circuits, so they are constantly going off in town every time
